The PerformTek app provides built-in assessments of your overall fitness by evaluating your maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max) and Recovery Heart Rate (RHR). Your VO2 max is an objective measure of overall aerobic capacity and fitness, whereas your RHR is an objective measure of your heart’s ability to return to baseline after intense exercise. A higher VO2 max and lower RHR is associated with improved cardiovascular fitness and a higher capacity to perform well during exercise, training, and sports.
The PerformTek app provides assessments of VO2 max via two “submaximal” tests – the Rockport walking test and the Quick Fit stepping test. Both tests utilize heart rate measured during a regimented exercise in order to estimate VO2 max.

The Rockport Fitness Walking Test is a great way for measuring aerobic fitness (VO2 max) and determine your general fitness level. The Rockport walking test requires you to walk one mile with heart rate and time to complete one mile analyzed to evaluate the VO2max.

It is important to assess your fitness prior to or within the first 3-4 weeks of beginning a program and again on a monthly basis to assure that the program you are following is making positive changes to your body. Once fitness goals have been reached, assessment can take place once every 4-8 weeks to assure maintenance of the new fitness level.
The Queens College Step test provides an alternative for fitness evaluation and utilizes a stepping cadence at a rate of 22 steps per minute for females and at 24 steps per minute for males a bench with a height of 16.25 inches for 5 minutes.
